Preserving the memory of the Grand Army of the Republic and our ancestors who fought to preserve the Union 1861 – 1865
The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) is a patriotic and educational organization, similar to the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR). It was founded on November 12, 1881 and incorporated by Act of Congress August 20, 1954. The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is the legal heir to and representative of the GAR.
Gen. William Passmore Carlin Camp No. 25 of the SUVCW was formed on June 2, 2003 and was named for Gen. William P. Carlin (1829-1903).
- AREA: The Camp serves all of the State of Nevada north of the Grand Army of the Republic Highway (US 6) and including all of White Pine County and the City of Tonopah. In eastern California, it also includes all of Mono and Alpine Counties, the eastern parts of El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, and Sierra Counties, and Plumas County south of state route 70.
- MEETINGS: The Camp generally meets on the 2nd or 3rd Sunday (see the latest Newsletter for the date) in even numbered months at 1:00 pm at Raley’s One Market Place, 18144 Wedge Parkway, Reno, NV 89511.
- NEWSLETTER: The Gen. Wm. Passmore Carlin Camp 25 News-Letter is published every other month, during odd months (Jan., March, May, July, Sept., & Nov.).
- MEMORIAL DAY PARTICIPATION: Determined at the regular February and April Camp meetings. Please contact the Camp Commander for details.
- DUES: Annual dues are $50.00, with a one-time initiation fee of $50.00.
