The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) is a patriotic and educational organization, similar to the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR). It was founded on November 12, 1881 and incorporated by Act of Congress August 20, 1954. The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is the legal heir to and representative of the GAR.

Sen. Edward Dickinson Baker Camp No. 31 of the SUVCW was established on October 26, 2019 and was named for Edward Dickinson Baker (1811-1861), who was a U.S. Representative from Illinois and a U.S. Senator from Oregon. He was a long-time close friend of Abraham Lincoln and served as a U.S. Army Colonel during both the Mexican-American War and Civil War. He was killed in the Battle of Ball’s Bluff while leading a Union Army regiment, becoming the only sitting U.S. senator ever to be killed in a military engagement..

  • AREA: The Camp serves Henderson and areas in southern Nevada south of Henderson.
  • MEETINGS: The Camp meets quarterly at 7331 Ellington Park Street, Las Vegas, Nevada at 9:00 am.
  • NEWSLETTER: To be announced.
  • MEMORIAL DAY PARTICIPATION: Observed on the date of the Federal holiday at various cemeteries in southern Nevada.
  • DUES: Annual dues are $33.00 per year, with a one-time initiation fee of $5.00.
